A Little Bit of Broke kicks off in just 1 week

April 1, 2023 Travel News Desk

Let us give you a taste of the Hunter Valley trail less travelled next weekend…

This time next week the spectacular Broke Fordwich Wine Region will be brimming with incredible wine, food, art, music and entertainment for one and all. The sun is set to shine, and the forecast is for big clear blue skies and warm days. We welcome you to A Little Bit of Broke.

In its 18th incarnation, this much loved multi venue festival style weekend, complete with new offerings and experiences, will run over 3 days from next Friday 5th to Sunday 7th May.

The program is bigger and better than ever before with 14 locations on the map each offering a multitude of tastings and experiences, there's a whole lot to see and do in Broke next weekend. We've added transport both to and within the region this year, making it accessible from Newcastle, Maitland, Cessnock, Singleton and surrounds. Just head to rovercoaches.com.au for the timetable and tickets. Or head to Broke on Friday or Saturday and take the hop on hop off shuttle which circles both Wollombi and Milbrodale Road precincts both days.

Your Festival Starter Kit or your Festival Super Kit is your ticket to ride… Choose from a pass that gains you entry to the festival, your keepsake Riedel glass, event program and either 4 or 8 tastings at any of the 8 cellar doors. Then add dining experiences, events, workshops, masterclasses, extra tastings and more to round out your itinerary.

Kick off your festival weekend with cocktails and tunes on Friday evening at our regions very own Distillery Kawal Rock, producing a great range of Gin & Vodka and watch the sun set from this incredible vantage. Later Dine Under the Stars at Margan on Friday night with hatted chef Joey Ingram serving up a degustation and matching Margan Wines. Ease your way into Saturday with Sunrise Yoga at Krinklewood or at Sparkling Yoga at Glen Eden Retreat, before a fabulous coffee at the new Magoony's Coffee House fast becoming a Broke institution. Tantalise your tastebuds at each of the 8 cellar doors, making some of the Hunter Valley best estate grown wines and pair each with one of the many great food offerings introduced this year. One of our picks is the gorgeous new French Provincial inspired Talits Estate where wine glass in hand you can spend the afternoon on the lawn playing bocce and enjoying a house made charcuterie board. Try your hand at Art & Sip at Greenway Wines, or create Art in a Bottle with Julianne Allcorn at Winmark Wines where the Chardonnay flows and Sunset Vibes kick off from 3pm on Saturday. At Whispering Brook immerse yourselves in all things olives or head on a sensory journey with Portuguese wine varieties and an Iberian inspired Tasting Plate.
