Celebrate summer with a weekend of chardonnay and clay. Come and make a vineyard-inspired 60cm high ceramic totem for your house or garden with Sydney artist Lisa Hölzl. On Saturday you will learn some basic ceramic hand-building techniques, exploring forms and shapes inspired by the Winmark vineyards and sculpture park. On Sunday we will explore composition, totem design and under-glazing techniques to bring your sculpture to life. Lisa will then fire and overglaze your work for collection from Winmark Wines or Lisa’s Sydney studio.
Lisa Hölzl, is a Sydney artist and educator working out of an old bakery called Bakehouse Studio Marrickville. Originally studying painting at Sydney College of the Arts, Lisa was seduced by the 3D canvas of hand-painted, ceramic sculpture fifteen years ago. Her practice explores botanically and biologically – inspired totemic forms, installations and small works. Lisa draws great inspiration from Australian botany, her Austrian heritage and her passion for the rich history of painting. She also loves making site-specific work to suit particular contexts including private homes, and gardens. Come and share Lisa’s love of clay (and chardonnay) in this wonderful weekend of colour, creativity and of course, clay.
All materials and lunch provided.
