Michael Ferris’ work focuses on simple botanical form; challenging traditional methods to transform ordinary materials into something eye-catching whilst revealing an unexpected form in a previously unseen way. He wants his creations to look like they could have lived or grown somewhere.
Michael aged 31 is a self-taught, emerging artist who works with steel, stone copper and wood. He challenges many common sculpture techniques by using simple materials with an unusual free flowing form. His work focuses on the botanical form, with a love for stone and figurative steel sculptures.
Coming from country NSW Michael travelled throughout the world for 7 years, taking inspiration from numerous cultures, architecture, art shows, exhibitions, and sculpture methods. In the recent years he has dedicated himself to the sculptural art world with recent success in private and public exhibitions throughout NSW.
