Sonia Payes is an Australian artist working with photography, multi-media, animation and sculpture, based in Melbourne, Australia. A strong environmental narrative permeates Payes’s works and the cycle of re-creation is explored in her wildly dystopian landscapes, portraits and sculptures.

Payes has exhibited in public and private galleries and museums nationally and internationally and is represented in numerous public galleries Australia, and prestigious private collections in Australia, Shanghai, Beijing, Switzerland, London, Belgium and United States of America. Payes has participated in Art Fairs, most recently 2019 Sydney Contemporary, Carriageworks, NSW, Australia.
In 2016 Payes held a major solo exhibition at McClelland Gallery + Sculpture Park, Parallel Futures, as the recipient of the MAP14 Prize for sculpture.

In 2017 Payes exhibited a solo exhibition at the Monash Gallery of Art, Melbourne, Australians In PNG.
Payes recently was one of the selected Australian artists to exhibit at the Southeast Museum Of Photography in Florida USA, and is excited to be included in the 6th Photo Biennial Barcelona, Spain.
