Julie Bidstrup [1977] is the artist behind Gallery Bidsart. She is inspired by stories and contrasts and finds her artistic language in the intersection of raw street art, the old impressionists, and the edgy universe of Tim Burton or in the depth of Cohen, Toulouse-Lautrec’s carefree pen strokes, and the poetry of Danish writer Tove Ditlevsen.

Often, she gives the stories in her artwork an extra dimension and life by adding the precise lines from technical drawings and product sheets. It is her trademark to compose messages – subtle, hidden or obvious – in the layers of the painting. A recurring theme in her artwork is about changing patterns, chaos, quirky characters, and destinies. When reviewing her work, you’ll find that hope and light at the end of the tunnel is found in most of her artwork, always keeping an eye out for those struggling in “this damned life” or longing for the elusive happiness.
Even though Julie adds her spin on a piece with symbolisms, stories and layers, it is always up to the eye of the beholder to find their own interpretation of the piece. However regardless of interpretation, life is to be grasped, and lived to the fullest!
